Sweet memories cloud my mind when I think of some loved one
If it's love, the taste got to be sweet; Can it be any other? None.
While munching on some freshly made gud-murmura (puffed rice with jaggery), it occurred to me how the taste of this snack is sweet just like a loved one's peeking memory. If this memory associated with the one I love is sweet, I concur that emotion attached with love is 'sweet' too. Hence, Love can be called "Sweetness of Emotion". And we all generally have a sweet craving - More or Less. Exceptions are exempted here. That means we all crave for 'Love'. And this is not a picked or adapted yearning. It's natural and involuntary. As Humans, we can't help but crave for Love. Even a baby wants her mother's love.
Love being rooted so deep inside us, can we avoid feeling this urge? I believe not. At any stage of our life between Birth and Death we long for Love to feed our soul. Considering this World as a desert of hardships we all need to drench ourselves in the syrup of Love. Even a soft 'howdy' from a stranger walking on the sidewalk lifts our mood up. Accepting it frankly, we all secretly wish to be paid some attention and offered some care. Our ears are always dying to hear - "How are you feeling now?", "Do you want something?", "Do you need any help?" Blessed are those who have someone around to rock them with these lullaby questions.
Flipping over the situation for a minute, let's change the shoes and step on to the other side. Do we ask others the same questions? When we see someone struggling or in need of help, do we pause from our never ending chaotic chores and extend a helping hand or just a few words of solace to them? Do we just shout out a "Good Morning" to that old jogger in the park? Do we try to stop and kneel down to ask a lonely child If s/he is hungry? Or Seeing them begging at the traffic signal do we roll down our window glass and ask them - "Why aren't they in School?" How many of us let that heavily pregnant woman supersede ourselves in a long queue to help her fight the worldly battle along with that constant combat she is valiantly handling against her own body.
Absence of such empathy is filling ourselves with bitter Indifference, sour Neglect of others by us and savory Self-centered approach. These new and strong ingredients claim all the shelf space in the pantry of our thinking mind. As a result sweet Love is toppled way down to get lost for ever.
Now if we honestly introspect, do we deserve that sweetness of emotion from others if we are paying them back in bitter, sour or savory emotions? I don't need to answer that for you all. It's self explanatory. But we need not get depressed about it. Most of the things in this life are mendable. So we can fix it by either balancing the ratio of these ingredients to make the recipe of relationships work, or by making our life a dessert which calls for all the sweetness.
I feel happy in sharing my Sweet murmura with you all...Conditions apply...Pay me back in the same currency...Anyone wants some???
Nicely pen down. It's a reality.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mona, true, but we all need to slow down, think and introspect a bit.
